MySky SkyCart - Your Questions

ATLAS stands for Alitalia, TAP, Lufthansa, Air France, and Sabena. It was named for the initial group of airlines who created this specification standard for airline galley equipment. It is the most common size, used by approximately 80% of airlines.

Other standards include ACE, mainly used by British Airways or KSSU originated by KLM, Swissair, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, and UTA.

A SkyCart is a "half-size" airline trolley. It is 12" wide, 41" high and 16" deep and weighs 29 ½ lbs. empty, max gross weight 132 ½ lbs.

Inserts/accessories add between 1 ¼ and 1 ¾ lbs. each. See also here.

Metric: Overall size (L x B x H) 301.0×405.0×1030.0 mm, empty weight 13.3 kg/29.3 Ibs max weight 60.0 kg

When the SkyCart is used as an airline trolley, the max weight is 132 ½ lbs. However, keep in mind this is the limit for use in flight on board of an airliner. It is designed to withstand G-forces of 9G forward and backwards and 10.05 G upwards and downwards.

In the airline industry two sizes of ATLAS trolleys are commonly used. Full-size and half-size. Full size is twice as deep (or long), 32" instead of 16". It also has two doors, one in the front and one in the back. This way two flight attendants can work from one trolley, one ahead of it in the isle, the other one behind it. For use at home or in an office full size is not very practical. That is why we carry only half-size airline trolleys.

Here is how you can make sure that your trolley is made according to the ATLAS standard:

Count the runners inside your cart. If there are 13, chances are you have an ATLAS cart. To be sure, also measure the horizontal inside width of your cart. It needs to be 10 ¾".

If you count 13 runners and measure an inside width of 10 ¾ inches you can be sure that you have an ATLAS cart and that our accessories will fit.

Other standards usually have many more than 13 runners. But there are also some carts with 13 runners and an inside width of 12 inches. Unfortunately, for these carts we cannot supply the inserts.

Absolutely none. Your SkyCart arrives completely assembled and just needs to be lifted (or rolled!) out of its shipping box.

We ship the SkyCart in a strong corrugated cardboard box with Styrofoam padding on all sides. Typically, we use UPS Ground within the contiguous USA.

We ship stock items with a day or two. Inside Florida UPS delivers next day, New York, Washington D.C., or Chicago takes three days, California or Washington State about 6 days.
